Ear Impressions
Service Description
Ear Impressions Ear impressions are the exact mold of your ear canal, used to manufacture the final product. How Impressions Are Taken A soft material (usually silicone) is placed into the ear canal and allowed to cure. It captures: Canal depth Shape and bends Outer ear structure (if needed) Digital scanning may also be used, but both methods aim for the same result: accurate geometry. Depth and Accuracy Deeper impressions produce better-fitting earplugs because they capture more of the canal’s natural shape. Shallow impressions often lead to: Poor sealing Loosening over time Reduced comfort Safety and Process A small barrier (otoblock) protects the eardrum before material is inserted. The process is: Safe when done properly Quick (typically minutes) Non-invasive At-Home vs Professional Impressions Professional impressions are more consistent and accurate. At-home kits can work, but errors in depth or placement are more likely, which directly affects fit quality.
